Mercurial Sun of January

Mar 7, 2011 | Gilcrease Museum, Grand Canyon, Sold & Exhibited Work

40″ x 40″

Oil on Canvas

In January, on the rim of Grand Canyon, the sun can be amazingly warm until you step into the shadow of a cliff or a cloud. Instantly the temperature drops significantly and you can feel chilled to the bone. It’s not unusual for snow patches to be protected in the shade, as they are in this painting. How odd it is to be in short sleeves, and painting snow.

This is one of many paintings being shown at the Rendezvous show at the Gilcrease museum April 15, 2011, where Curt will be holding an art class. For more information, please visit this page.

This painting will be available for purchase during the Gilcrease Show and Sale on April 15th, 2011.
