As Tom and I were planning our trip to Venice in 2014, our close friends Mark and Carla shared their own, personal Venice story with us; they got engaged while having dinner at the world famous Harry’s Bar overlooking the Grand Canal and the Salute. I thought it would be fun to paint a nocturne to celebrate this true love story. The magnificent 1681 basilica of the Santa Maria della Salute glistens in the night sky as seen from across the Grand Canal, which is the same view the couple would have enjoyed their memorable night.
