Umbras

Curt has a deep affection for summer at Grand Canyon due to the abundant surprises and visual delights, He captured the essence of this season on canvas. Positioned on the east side of the South Rim, overlooking the Vishnu Vault near the renowned “duck on the rock” viewpoint, the artist painted Umbra’s vista. Against a backdrop of a brooding monsoon sky casting shadows over distant plateaus and temples, the challenge lay in capturing the intricate play of light in the foreground and midsection. Despite the complexity, Curt found joy and satisfaction in the final result, considering it a heartfelt tribute to the summer of 2023.
