Sunlight Peak
In 1985 Curt abandoned underpainting in dark colors in favor of alla prima, wet-into-wet paint application, using only bristle brushes. At that time the mountains in southwestern Colorado were among is favorite subjects, including the Needle Mountains and the Weminuche Wilderness of the San Juan National Forest north of Durango. Sunlight Peak is an elegant “fourteener”—one of the state’s more than fifty summits topping 14,000 feet.
Sunlight Peak is now for resale and it is with great pride that Curt has included it in his new book, Resilience: The Life and Grand Canyon Art of Curt Walters.
