Stormy Day at Las Trampas

12″ x 12″

Oil on Canvas Board

I spent ten days this last July painting in and around Santa Fe. One of my favorite missions is San José de Garcia de Las Trampas located in Las Trampas, a beautiful mountain valley south of Taos on the old “High Road”. This Spanish colonial village was established in 1751. Set in the original town plaza, the church was completed in 1780 and is considered to be one of the best preserved examples of Spanish Colonial Mission architecture in New Mexico. I painted until a monsoon shower chased me away.
