Forced to be apart from the public and because I wanted quite freedom in the color of the season, I packed my paint set and picnic lunch for a hike north of Flagstaff. I discovered this old grove of aspen and it seemed alive to me. It is harder each year to find parts of the great forest in Northern Arizona which have not been cleared of fallen logs and underbrush, I delighted in my feelings of history and nostalgia as I painted.
