Artwork by Curt Walters‘Master Painter’ Curt Walters, of Sedona, Arizona, will have a one-man show at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, in Indianapolis, Indiana, set to begin August 19, 2009.  “Monuments & Moments:  The Plein Air and Studio Paintings of Curt Walters” will be curated by James Nottage, Chief Curator of the Eiteljorg Museum.

“Monuments & Moments” will feature many of the artist’s signature Grand Canyon and Southwestern-themed paintings, as well as works from his travels to Canada, Jordan, Bali, and a number of European cities.

This incredible honor was given as part of the Artist of Distinction Award at the 2008 Quest for the West Art Show. The Walter’s one man show will include fifty pieces culled from the past two decades of his thirty five year career. The works in the show will be loaned to the Eiteljorg Museum from many other prominent museums, and also from public and private collections. The Autry Museum will lend “Splendid Turmoil,” the winner of the Trustee’s Purchase Award at the 2008 Masters of the American West show, and several paintings will be contributed by collectors within the Indianapolis area.

Walters is a regular at the three most prestigious Western Art shows; Prix de West at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, the Masters at the Autry Museum in Los Angeles, and Quest for the West at Indianapolis.  He has been the recipient of more than a dozen major awards since 1998, including the 2007 Prix de West Purchase Award, an unprecedented double-win of the Frederic Remington Painting Award, and a half-dozen Buyers/Patrons’ Choice Awards.

His work is found in museums, and in public and private collections throughout the world, including the Forbes Magazine Gallery, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the estate of Robert Urich, astronaut Frank Borman, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and the Leanin’ Tree Museum.  His work is available at the Trailside Galleries in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Jackson, Wyoming, and at the Claggett/Rey Gallery in Vail, Colorado.
